Toddler Class Ages 3-5

This class focuses on martial arts games and activities designed to help obtain coordination, flexibility, and structure. The overall goal of this class is to prepare the toddler to advance to the youth class.

Youth Class Ages 6-12

This class focuses on character building, strengthening, stretching, drills, skill training, and martial art etiquette. The Kuroshi-do belt ranking system is similar to a young African warrior being left in the wilderness and told to make his way out. It is a trial; a right of passage, each boy or girl will be taught the skills needed to become a black belt but must walk through by themselves.

Teen Ages 13-18 

This class focuses on the curriculum and styles that make up Kuroshi-do. The end goal in this class is to make black belt. In this class you learn the intricacies of the art, not just the punching, kicking, throwing and locking, but the discipline of knowing when to and when not to use the art. Adult Martial Arts

This Martial Arts system is known as Kuroshi-do, it is a blend of martial arts concepts and philosophies. It is a mixture of hard and soft styles consisting of judo throws, soft jujitsu throws, and projections throws. We utilize locks, hyper-extension of joints, understanding and applying the usage of pressure points, using confusion tactics, and misdirection. In addition,  we also focus on using the proper distance for kicking, hard blocks, soft deflections, interceptions, evasions, sporadic, erratic, flowing movements, ground fighting, grappling, defense against multiple attacks, knife and bat defense, close quarter combat, distance fighting, point fighting, trapping and boxing.

TE-SAI-NI DOJO is led by Hanshi Burrell, 8th dan in Kuroshi-do, whose decades of experience inform an approach that balances traditional standards with thoughtful pedagogy. Instruction at Te-Sai-Ni emphasizes long-term study, proper progression, and respect for the art. Students are guided to develop physical skill alongside focus, self-regulation, and ethical conduct. Training is paced intentionally, ensuring that foundations are established before complexity is introduced. Our mission is to empower individuals through the practice of the Kuroshio-do System. We strive to cultivate discipline, respect, and self-confidence in every student, fostering a supportive community centered around martial arts.
